Burpham Primary School
A new eight classroom block with toilets, additional resource and staff accommodation together with extensions to the existing multi-purpose hall and school kitchens together a new link corridor and other internal refurbishments and alterations to a primary school in Surrey successfully completed, allowing the school to increase to two form entry.
Using a modified version of the ZoomRoom System to produce a two storey building, we were able to reduce the cost of the new block, allowing further works to be undertaken around the rest of the school to enable the existing buildings to better function.
A brick plinth continues around the entire envelope of the new block, with timber cladding above on two facades, and full masonry gables elevations with further protruding brick bays and other simple articulations. The building is split into two portal frame structures, with a glazed circulation core serving to express the two separate forms.
