Christ the King School, London
Christ the King is a two-form entry voluntary aided catholic primary school consisting of a number of separate buildings across a generous site in north London which has suffered from under investment in its building stock. Following extensive site and buildings analysis and feasibility studies, a phased development programme over a five year period, updated to suit available funding, has now been implemented.
This first phase of works has concentrated on ensuring the school is generally in good order and offering safe, secure and attractive learning and working environment for all children and staff. By giving full consideration to all existing constraints, the school’s evolving requirements and future possibilities, ZRP have helped the Senior Leadership Team at Christ the King create a future proofed school which can adapt to changing circumstances and demands.
Phases 1-5 are now successfully completed, providing general improvements to the appearance, condition, accommodation, and functionality of the school, specifically, providing a secure and welcoming main entrance, reception and administration suite, better connectivity between the existing school buildings, providing new and improved senior management office accommodation meeting rooms and storage, extended and improved staff welfare, preparation space and WC accommodation. Furthermore, the school kitchen and multi-purpose hall have been refurbished.
The new and remodelled spaces are bright, welcoming, secure and well-functioning with a private garden now also provided for staff to improve well-being.
Further phases of work are under development with more information provided here.
