Crafting Architectural Excellence: Design Evolution in Walthamstow

We're excited to provide you here with a snapshot of our recent early design work on a neglected Victorian Terraced Townhouse in Walthamstow, North London.

Exploring Options: Once we understand our client's needs and project scope, we explore various design options. We scrutinize form, size, materials, and external appearance, all while adhering to local and national regulations and keeping a close eye on the budget.

Design Development: After rigorous design studies and a thorough review process, we're ready to submit our planning applications. Our goal is to ensure that the local authorities welcome our proposals and understand the improvements they will bring to the local area.

Onward to Construction: As we progress into the technical design stage, we're excited to translate our meticulously crafted designs into a fully realized building.

We’re pleased to share some photos we’ve just

We’re pleased to share some photos we’ve just received from a small project we were commissioned to carry out last year.

The first phase has concentrated on refurbishing the ground floor, opening up the compact interior of the terrace house with new steel framed doors and partitions both internally and externally. A simple palette featuring soft-toned, natural wood finishes to floor as well as feature cladding which wraps around the spine wall and open plan staircase, providing a focus and harmonisng the space.

Designs have also been progressed for a loft extension which we hope will be started on site later this year.

This photo captures the first look into the attic of our latest project in Walthamstow, London. The space is brimming with character, featuring raw, exposed beams and brickwork, and has incredible potential to be transformed into an enlarged family home. The atmospheric lighting highlights the inherent beauty of the space, but also serves as a harsh reminder of the neglect this property has suffered - with a hole in the roof letting in both light and water.

We're now developing our early concept scheme to prepare for planning application submission. We're looking forward to refurbishing, remodelling, and extending this run-down property, and can't wait to turn this attic and the entire property into a modern, welcoming family home. At the start of every successful architectural project lies a series of carefully crafted design options and ideas.

These are some of the initial hand-drawn plans showing our team's initial concept options for the remodel, refurbishment, and extension of a house in Walthamstow. From exploring different layout configurations to incorporating unique features, we're committed to creating a design that perfectly suits the needs and desires of our clients, all while staying within the project budget.

With each stroke of the pencil, we're gradually building a vision of what this home can and will be for our clients. Once the layout is agreed we’ll steadily build up the level of detail to obtain any necessary planning and building regulation permissions, obtain accurate costs from suitable contractors and ultimately produce a full set of detailed construction drawings which will be used to transform the property.

We're excited to share the first site photos of our project to transform an abandoned robotics workshop into a spacious family home in Central London. The mixed-use Victorian building has both commercial and residential spaces, and our clients battled the local planning authority to convert most of the commercial space in the basement and ground floor into residential use.

We're now in the process of connecting the upper residential parts with the old workshops to create substantially more living space. This will provide new living, dining, and kitchen accommodation, as well as individual bedrooms for their three children who had previously shared a single room. The project will also enable our clients to expand their home-based nursery business and increase their income.

We're thrilled to blend our two core sectors - improving education facilities for young children and remodelling and upgrading private homes to enhance our clients' lives. Despite the challenges, our team has dedicated their usual pragmatism, attention to detail, technical design, and resourcefulness to deliver a successful project. The builders are now contracted to deliver the scheme, and we can't wait for its completion.

Exciting news! ZRP Architects is thrilled to announce that our first overseas project has been granted full Planning Consent!

Our client fell in love with a property on the stunning west coast of Ireland, and we were appointed to transform it into a luxurious single-family home.

The existing 1980s detached house, which was previously a Guest House, will be updated and remodelled to make the most of the breathtaking views across the bay and countryside.

Our team is currently focusing on updating the building's appearance and fabric while remodelling the interior to create a spacious and comfortable living space. Stay tuned for updates as we move into the more technical design stages and begin construction.
